2021-06-22   Alright, guys and gals. I finally got a kinda quickie log of our work here. J.is helping me maintain it, so we should be able to keep it reasonably up to date. Just use the contact page and put "BLOG" or something like that at the beginning of the message (to let us know it's OK to put on the site - we'll contact you when it goes up so you can see it). We should have all the phone numbers and emails up to date now, let us know if there are any updates.
KL

2021-07-09   We're still going through messages, getting them in chronological order. We'll put them up as we go. A little manual work involved.
JM

2021-08-11   Just about finished. Should have everything up to date in he next day or so.
JM

2021-08-22   We disabled the 'Report' page temporarily. We were just getting spam. The group is rather small, just a couple dozen victims we've located so far. And some potential victims may be elderly or disabled, or both, and aren't comfortable with computers. Most of the contacts we've made have been with family members. And it's probably better to just leave contact information and let us call or email.
JM

2021-09-10   OK, got an email going out. Day after tomorrow to be sure everyone expects it. There will be some information on the lawyers we're talking to. Some research on the hospital. We're finding some interesting stuff. Unfortunately it looks like some bad things went on, besides what we know about.
JM

2021-09-21   K. is going through death reports and has some interesting observations. He says if they almost killed him in there, they may have succeeded with others. Makes sense. They've only been in business a few years, about three or four, and it looks bad. Especially the median age.
JM

2021-11-21   We would like to have a meeting for our friends in the Jonesboro area and anyone close enough to drive in. I know some of you have elderly or infirm family, and may have trouble getting away. We understand, that's why we're doing this. K. is looking into doing a conference call, if we can't manage a Zoom yet. He's our tech expert and still a little under the weather, both physically and mentally, due his experience. There are only about a dozen of us so far, so we may be able to accommodate anyone who wants to call in. And if you can't make it, we'll email an update the next day. We'll get the details to you when we're about ready to go.
JM

2021-12-02   Wanted to get this in before the holiday. We have responses from about a half dozen law firms (or narrowed it down to that) that we want to talk to. We'll try to get a meeting together before Christmas and see what everyone thinks. We contacted the "big dogs" as K. calls them (Memphis and Little Rock) but not sure about dealing with them, because of the size. He has a couple of lawyers in the family who are giving some information on how it might work (whether it ends up being a mass tort action, or whatever.) Legal talk. K. says when you go to court you don't get justice - you get law, and it isn't necessarily the same thing. He's been a time or two, so I guess he knows. So there that is. Since we're probably going to end up paying for it anyway (the big guys didn't seem interested in taking it on contingency) we will be the bosses.
JM

2021-12-14   In case we missed anyone with our last email, we'll probably be a little busy with family things until after the holiday. I'm finally out of the wheelchair occasionally, using a walker. The neurologist is cautiously optimistic, so I guess that means I am too. Not that any of us should trust anyone in the medical industry, but the doctors are at least trying. I guess. We'll probably try to have a meeting just after the first of the year. We're probably going to have some decisions to make. So Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Hope it will be happier for all of you.
JM
Hello everyone! I'm feeling fairly good, considering. J is taking good care of me - I don't know what I would do without her. I'm not complaining about anything ever again! Thanks for all the prayers. Merry Christmas! Hope the new year is better for all.
KL

2022-01-11   We had a couple of new contacts in December, and have just updated our list. We'll get it out to you tomorrow. One thing we'll need to decide is whether to go ahead with the investigation we discussed. At this point it doesn't seem too steep, as it's just a background on one person. Apparently doctors can be a little difficult to get the goods on sometimes, as the industry protects its own. But the initial work is fairly routine, and K. and we believe we can swing it with our resources. So we may go that way for the time being. The whole wrongful death thing is different. We have to track down the NOK of the decedents about whose deaths we are suspicious (those who died well below the median age, 50s and early 60s, some were even younger, believe it or not. We'll go over that at the next meeting.) Of course, as one lawyer we talked to said, they will naturally blame it on 'Covid' and wouldn't be surprised if they just reported all deaths that way. This bunch is even sleazier than normal. BTW, some new information under the "Other Information" link - we're looking into the history of the place to see what we can dig up. Not that there doesn't seem to be plenty to dig. Our researcher may be able to help there as well. Be well everyone. TTYL.
JM

2022-01-23   One other thing we've been doing, and I've forgotten to post (mainly because we hadn't had much luck before now) is finding former employees. K. said during the time he was in there that some disappeared and new ones came in, and overheard conversations (apparently they don't have any reservations about gossiping in the hall just outside an open door) suggesting turnover was a problem. If we can get some of those on board, there will probably be some really useful information. It looks as if we may be on to something.
JM

2022-01-28   We're mailing out a package with some information you may find useful. There will be a package of business cards with the website address on them. Nothing else, just "VICTIMSOFACCH.ORG" in big black letters. You may find them useful if you are talking to someone you want to inform about it. Especially anyone who might have a loved one in that situation. I shudder to think what can happen in there. We'll get those out in the next day or so - looks like Monday. For those of you who don't know, we're staying at the farm, about 40 miles out of Jonesboro. One or both of us is up there a couple of times a week.
JM

2022-02-12   We talked to a law firm from the western part of the state, far enough from Jonesboro not to have any reservations about suing a hospital here. K. asked several of the firms in Jonesboro, and a couple from nearby, and all said that as a matter of policy they would not sue a hospital in Jonesboro. Makes sense when you think - these are their golfing buddies and their wives are part of the same social circles. It could get awkward. I don't know if any of the sleaze-balls at ACCH are local, and they certainly aren't the kind of people anyone would be friends with. In any case, it's probably just as well. They have a lawyer who has family in the area, and comes out to visit. He knows Jonesboro and has connections. Anyway, it's looking like possibly next Friday, or the week after. He comes on weekends so a day early for business is no problem. He likes what he has seen so far. We FedEx'd the twenty pounds or so of K's hospital records and he said he had trouble believing what he saw. Anyway, that's where it is for now.
JM

2022-02-25   We are about finished with the media blitz project. As you know (especially those of you from over in Missouri and Tennessee) they get their patients from other hospitals over a large area of the AR/MO/TN/MS area. We've run down as many of the hospitals, newspapers, and television stations as we can find. At whatever point we decide to spring it, emails and letters will go out to all of them. They will reference our website, and inform them of what happens there. Ostensibly it is to advise them to consider the possibility of incurring liability for not doing due diligence when transferring a person. They will at this point have been warned, and anything that happens after that cannot be attributed to a lack of awareness of the danger. When that happens is something our lawyer can advise us on, at whatever point he takes the case.
JM

2022-03-01   Our lawyer (hopefully) will be here on the 19th. That gives us time go get any of you guys who are able and want to meet with him to make plans. I know a couple of you got your records, if you've had them examined as K. did and have extracted useful information, you might want to come. We'd like to have a few of you, in case he has questions. Give us a call or shoot us an email if you're able and interested.
JM

2022-03-21   Had a nice talk on Friday. Thanks to CM, DP for coming over. One thing we should do - if any of you got your records from the hospital, that would be helpful. KL got his immediately after he got out, and if you get yours now, before they are alerted and start to make stuff disappear, it would be a good idea. KL said they cost about $250. There were about twenty pounds of them, so if you were in there for very long they may be similar. If it's a money issue, we can help. And once you have them, don't let anyone have them. Make copies. If you had any strange experiences like being unconscious for days at a time, that could be very important. Email or call (email is better so we don't forget things, KL still has some memory problems) and we'll get back with you. We'll have a complete record of everything we went over in the next few days.
JM

2022-03-21   Forgot to mention this. We had a couple of inquiries about the neurologist KL saw. He is interested in seeing anyone who suspects they were drugged in this way. Call or email and we'll give you the info.
JM

2022-03-25   We had a couple of questions about how the matter of fraud figures into this. We did discuss that briefly with the lawyer. Actually we had two questions for him, but one was whether our complaint should include fraud in addition the the malpractice, abuse, physical harm, etc. The other was about the matter of whether the hospital is fraudulently billing insurance companies (and Medicare/Medicaid as well) for holding patients in the hospital under false pretenses as they certainly did with K. That would be a matter for the insurance companies and the government, where action is concerned, but we certainly could report it. We wondered what the impact on our case would be if a criminal investigation was going on at the same time. He said an investigation was likely to take quite a while, and our case is going forward (at least being filed - how long it will take is another matter) fairly soon. So it would be in the pipeline. Their problems with the law are their own. BTW, (and we'll have an email going out to everyone shortly) there is an interesting angle to this: apparently in the case of hospitals like this (LTACH) fraud is common, particularly in deliberately keeping patients longer than necessary in order to meet the requirement for average stay length. In K's case they had him in there for 68 days, for no reason at all. And tried to keep him from leaving, after he had been accepted by a rehab facility. So obviously they're doing it. So, for those of you we don't have the info on your admittance and release dates, try to get that to us. And if you remember any suspicious behavior, or if you were obviously being kept there unnecessarily, any notes you can provide will be helpful. And if you need any help getting your records, let us know. The sooner the better, if they suspect something is up, they may start trying to hide stuff. Look for an email Monday or Tuesday, email or call us if you have any questions.
JM

2022-04-02   We will be out of town for a few days next week (11-15), Monday until Wednesday at least. We have to stay overnight again because of the way they do the tests. We should be back no later than Thursday. Thanks to MT for putting us up for the night, having to stay in a hotel hear the hospital (or anywhere else in the city) isn't something we were looking forward to.

We plan to have a meeting, again a combination of conference call and in person for those who are able to be here. As always, we'll get an email out with details for anyone who misses it. And some other developments on investigations, etc.

We have been reaching out in various media for any more people who may have relevant experiences, both patients and their family members and former employees. We've had a few responses and asked them if they wish to join us.

Everyone be safe and be well. Talk to you soon.
JM

2022-04-04   Forgot to mention, we're working on making the blog interactive, so you can log in and contribute, pass messages, etc. It's been a little slow, I've been a little under the weather but beginning to feel better. Hope to have it in beta after we get back from the doctor next week.
KL

2022-04-18   We were a little late getting back last week. We stopped to visit with a couple of members in southeast Missouri (several there as we know) and stayed overnight. Made it a shorter drive home on Friday. You should see a couple of new links in the sidebar soon. One is the 'Members' link, where we'll be putting the discussion forum.

The other is a link to a page with information about a number of other hospitals managed by the same company as ACCH. We've been investigating and finding some disturbing similarities. We hadn't looked into this when we met with our lawyer, and will bring it up when we meet again in a couple of weeks. We're still organizing the data and working on how to use it.

A belated happy Easter to all!
JM

2022-04-22   Busy week over. Actually weeks don't end, we work when there's something to be done. We'll be out of town tomorrow but back Sunday. Hopefully everyone that wants to chat has gotten their account set up. If you haven't, or need your password reset, or have any problems just send an email or call. If we're both out of the office it usually isn't for long. There aren't that many users - just those of us in the group - so we'll keep it manual.

We are adding some links in the other information tab. There will be info about CHC - we've discussed it with a few of you, mainly when discussing the legal options. The thing is so big - the other hospitals they manage look pretty much like ACCH. It seems they are in the same condition. K says the whole thing looks like a criminal enterprise, and he has a point. We are looking at contacting some investigators, whether private, or someone with law enforcement connections to advise on our options. We are also in contact with a couple of investigative journalists who have some resources behind them, and we might want to look at that. There will probably be an additional section for that.

Everyone have a good weekend and be safe. TTYL.

2022-04-28   Can't believe it's Thursday already. It has been a busy week. Not sure how much I'll get in here, but a couple of subjects will be what to do with investigating CHC, and possibly crowdfunding our efforts. It would help with legal expenses, and we could get professional help with our investigations. I'll try to get caught up tomorrow, and have something before the weekend.
JM

2022-05-01   Well, here it is almost Monday. Hope everyone had a good weekend (it'll probably be Monday by the time I finish this) but anyway here goes:

First, a site redesign. It won't look much different, but we'll be reorganizing some things. A separate sidebar link for CHC, for example. It seems we are going to be looking at all of them, perhaps set up sites for them like this one. We have made some contacts in those areas, and there is definitely interest in action against some of those hospitals. We'll also add an SSL certificate as some browsers give a warning splash that might alarm new users. We didn't do it before because we thought it might be a short affair, but it seems to be growing. We're having to look at how criminal law may be involved (actually, it already is as the hospital was guilty of numerous criminal acts - we just weren't looking at that angle. Now that we believe that Medicare and Medicaid fraud may be involved in some cases, it becomes a criminal matter.) Anyway, there shouldn't be any interruption of service. We probably will be moving to a new hosting company in the next few months, but the downtime on that is generally a matter of minutes, if there is any at all. I'll keep you posted.

As most of you know, we've been able to finance this on our own. We don't know yet what it will cost to actually file K's case and start on its way to the jury, but we hope to have an idea this week or next. We're fortunate to have family and friends with some connections, and my work as a paralegal gives me some as well. But we will probably start up the crowdfunding soon anyway, in order to be able to expand the scope of our investigations. It's a little more than a handful of people here in Arkansas and Missouri now. We intend to see it through to a conclusion, whatever it costs.

It looks like quite a few of you have your accounts set up. If you haven't noticed yet, there is a "Send to all" option on the messenger that sends your message to everyone. Some of you haven't been able to attend a meeting, even on conference call (not the best way to meet people anyway) so if you want to you can just send a "Hello" to everyone to introduce yourself.

OK, that should be enough to get the week started. We'll be in Jonesboro Tuesday, and possibly again later in the week. Legal stuff. Good night (or morning) to all. TTYL
JM

2022-05-04   Hello everyone. I've been busy but J is taking good care of me. A quick update on the site: we moved to a new host a couple of days ago. Just a few minor code problems from about three OS revisions and (finally) moving it all to PHP7. We added a SSL certificate so it should work securely. I just noticed a small item though, I'll try to have that fixed tomorrow. I know a couple of us have geeks in the family - I've kept the site as bare-bones as possible for simplicity and usability. Hopefully we won't need it forever, but we're going to finish what we started. Everything seems to be working properly, had a couple of contacts come in as soon as it was back up. Let us know if you notice any problems. Good night everyone.
KL

2022-05-13   Well, another week has gone by. I put a couple of pics up on the 'More Information' link. It just shows the CEO and the doctor responsible for most of the depredations. We'll work on it some this weekend. Should be more useful by Monday. Everyone is going to be out enjoying the beatiful weather anyway, put the unpleasant stuff aside for a while.

There should also be a windshield flyer we'll be using at some point, as we try to round up any more people in the Jonesboro area who haven't heard about us yet. It's a preliminary design at this point, and we'll let you know when it's ready.
JM

2022-05-17   We're working on our campaign to contact victims in the Jonesboro area soon. We'll be using this windshield flyer, or something close to it. The final form and date of distribution is not yet decided. It's on the discussion page. Here is a pic Getting late, we'll be in Jonesboro Thursday and may stay over. We're visiting with a witness who lives in the area and may be a while. More soon.
JM

2022-05-31   Last day of May. This year is going by fast. Hope everyone enjoyed the holiday. Probably because we're so busy. We will file the first suit before the end of the year, probably in early December but perhaps as early as November. K has a couple of lawyers in the family and they chat occasionally. We expect to decide by August who will be handling his case. He's doing some blogging over at HypCryme, mostly just for fun and because a lot of people who don't know us see it. He hasn't put an SSL cert on it yet, so some browsers might give a security warning splash. It's all right, there's nothing sensitive there. Also somethings we don't want to do here for other reasons. Some of you will find some codes in there - we do worry about some of the bad people trying something, IYKWIM. No one outside the organization knows me, but they may have guessed who he is by now. A couple of odd things have happened lately.

We're still thinking about how to handle getting investigations of CHC going. We haven't made any official complaints with either state or federal agencies yet. We'd like to have our first case in progress before they start experiencing official inquiries. It looks as if we really need to include all three categories of hospitals, not just the managed ones. That's a lot of research, so we have to prioritize. We've hired a pretty good investigator in Jonesboro who has considerable experience in medical-related cases, so should be able to formulate a plan. Our financial resources are sufficient for now, and we're covering K's case with our own funds. Hopefully that will hold up, but we are going to have to do a crowd-fund to see this through.
JM

2022-06-02   We decided to build a site to keep track of the head of the crime family - CHC. We registered VictimsofCHC.org and expect to have it up in the next few days. We'll use it as we work the areas where the other hospitals are located. Since we have had more reports that seem to be fraud-related (mostly Medicare) we'll be looking some ways to process those. We do want to get that into the hands of the feds, but after the first of the year when our first cases are already in the pipeline.
JM

2022-06-05   Hope everyone had a great weekend. K and I are ending ours a little early. I mentioned this to a couple of our members, but I'll put it out here now. We're going to have to get some help with all new projects. The CHC investigation is something we want to put as much resources as we can onto as early as possible. Part of it is research, and is relatively easy - we have a few tricks to make it more time-efficient. Any volunteers will of course be appreciated. The other thing though, is a developer to help K out. We've kept the sites simple so they're not only easy to navigate and read but also easy to maintain. We hope not to have to use it forever. Anyway, basic LAMP skills are sufficient, and I know several of you have geeks in the family. We want to keep it inside rather than hiring outside help for security. There have been a handful of probes that sounded sinister, and were probably supposed to. We're a threat to some people who have a lot of money, and ill-gotten money at that. We're fairly hard to find, even if we can be readily identified. Of course, everything will come out in court, but by that time it should be too public to stop.

We're going to get off to bed now - have to make a quick trip to Jonesboro early, should be back by early afternoon. Good night to all. TTYL.
JM

2022-06-14   Wow. Tuesday already. Tuesday night yet. Or maybe Wednesday already. Anyway, we're back and busy.

First things first, I forgot to mention that our developer can work from home. I know a couple of us are over in Missouri, but there's no need to be here.

We're still looking at the crowd-funding option, particularly as we would like to see if we can set up a more formal company for the larger investigation. We're both very concerned about what we've uncovered about CHC just with our relatively minimal resources. We're talking to legal next week about our own cases, and will see what sort of options we might have there.

I almost forgot, we may take the contact page down. It wasn't the best way to do it, but we do see some visitors (based on their IP location) that may be attempting to use it. We prefer to have them use the contact page and leave an email address. We get tons of spam there, but have experience in cleaning it up. If we have to we'll put a firewall to block foreign and known spammer IP blocks.

OK, back to work. Actually it's almost tomorrow. Again. We'll check back soon.

JM

2022-06-27   Sorry to be gone so long. We went out of town, had some business over in the northwest part of the state, for the reasons discussed earlier. Business took a couple of days, and we got back late last night. Thanks N3 for holding down the fort.

We want to have a meeting with as many of us as possible in the next week or two. In Jonesboro, so we'll see if we can do a call-in for those who can't be there. Just about everyone has a discussion group account and that lets us get news out as needed.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. There seem to be some important things happening. We'll keep you updated.

JM

2022-07-14   I not going to say "Wow, is it Thursday already?" I know, and I apologize for the long absence. N3 was able to get hold of us for urgent things, and everything worked out reasonably well. We just got in from St. Louis, and I'll get an update out in a general message, anyone not on the network give us a call or email. I'll try to get some info out tomorrow. TTYL.

JM

2022-07-15   Now that we're back in the office, we're adding some features. There's now a dossiers section where we'll be putting detailed info on the various people involved. We hope that getting comprehensive background reports from professional investigators on all of them. Especially as court records can take a while to track down, and we know they're important on some of them. And of course, on the doctors their history of investigations/lawsuits/disciplinary actions are important. It may be necessary to have a local investigator that knows the local population and can find out what happened at certain local hospitals. The other major item is getting the windshield flyer finalized, and making arrangements (and deciding when) to do it. I'll put a copy up here when it's ready.
JM

2022-07-16   OK, a little more info. I started on the dossiers for Cox and Copeland, and I had forgotten something. There's a Doctor X, we don't know who he is. All of the records we have have Copeland's name all over them. We'll go back and see if we can find anything, and ask everyone who is looking at their records to look for it. In the case of having previous lawsuits or disciplinary action getting that information will require a professional investigator to get it done expediently. Fortunately we have a connection here who is well connected into the local community. We should be able go get what we need. We're especially interested in Copeland, with his history. It's suspicious to say the least. Strangely, we seem to be seeing the guy as "Jeffrey" and "Jeffery", with the latter seeming to be correct. Anyway, we need the rundown on him and any other doctor that we can turn up. I'll post a picture of the revised windshield flyer in the next day or so. Have a good weekend.
JM

2022-07-22   I meant to get this out earlier. It's the link to the Arkansas State Medical Board website complaint page.

Arkansas State Medical Board

(Need to get K to fix the link colors)

They say they accept mail, fax (!) or email - personally, I believe mail is best. Certified mail, which means you get a receipt showing it was delivered. I don't know if anyone has done so yet. We've been holding off. Probably will get it done in the next month or so. Ours is the oldest case as far as we know, and the statute of limitations for litigation still has another nine months or so. If anyone needs help in getting a letter composed and printed and mailed let us know.

We'll get the info for the Missouri medical board up this weekend.

We have an associate analyzing our records now (in Jonesboro) and the cost is very resonable - a friend of family connection but if anyone needs help we'll see what we can get done.

If you are looking at your own and see a doctor with a name other than Copeland we'd like to know. We can't find this Doctor X anywhere, and don't know if he's an actual doctor or not. He didn't come out of his (I guess it was his office, hard to know what was going on there, it was such a circus) and never came out the times I was there, just called out things to us, rather rude and acted like he was annoyed at being asked anything. We'll know soon, but it wouldn't be surprising if the records are falsified to some degree. Time (and being on the witness stand) will tell.

Lawyer meeting Wednesday. Update you when we get back.

Everyone have a great weekend.

JM

2022-07-25   Hello, hope everyone is doing well. Now that Monday is almost over. The weeks seem to go by fast lately.

First off, I promised to get some information on complaints against elements of the medical industry in Missouri. The statute of limitations is the same as in Arkansas.

There seem to be avenues of complaint both for hospitals and for doctors. I'm not sure if there is a separate process for hospitals. I'll check on that. Of course, this is unlikely to have any results. Actually suing them is the only way, but it can't hurt to harass them. Anyway, here are the links for Missouri:

Hospitals

Doctors

We had a couple of interesting contacts today, they're under wraps for a while. One is VERY interesting, but we have to wait for a lawyer to finish up a case and get back in the office. I'll update you, probably with a general message, when we have something. We'll be in Jonesboro Wednesday, Nick will be here. TTYL

JM

2022-08-06   Busy week. Hope I can remember everything. We had a few minor problems that probably weren't noticable but caused some issues with you hosting company. The site is on a rather small server instance (not much memory/bandwidth/storage) and has been busy lately due to our increased contacts. For now we've firewalled off all the search engines and foreign IP blocks (that took care of most of it), so just the normal traffic shouldn't cause problems. We'll try to get it migrated to larger server before long.

We added a social media link under the "More Information" page. We'll put some things there for you to share, use in the comments sections of sites you visit. K's "medical industry" pic is there, as is a text version for sites that don't let you post images. It got some interesting comments on FB. We'll put up a site logo too. It needs some work.

Since the weekend is almost half over, everyone enjoy the remainder. Off to bed with us.

JM

2022-08-21   We'll be out of town most of next week, maybe back on Friday. We're a little behind, we should be able to get everything caught up by the weekend. N3 will be here or at his place, but keeping an eye on things. There's a draft of the upcoming E-book "In the Belly of the Beast", we added the link to the main page. We'll see what kind of response that gets. There is some editing and probably a final chapter to be added, once it's finished K will put it in his Amazon Kindle library. As always, comments are welcome.

We're still looking at the flyer. We want to be a little more emphatic on encouraging current or past employees to help, but perhaps a separate whistle-blower recruitment effor would best. Since rewards are available for some, it might attract more attention. We'll put some whistleblower resources on the site, so they're accessible there from any who happen by.

JM

2022-09-03   Wishing everyone a great weekend. We pretty well cover everything in the broadcast messages now, and all our activity is pretty much confined to the board. It all has to be private now anyway. If you run into anyone that's had an experience and hasn't contacted us, the best thing is to have them use the site contact form to give us the email address they want to use, and we'll get them set up on the board. Ran into someone the other day who didn't know about us, and had and experience to share. Anyway, we'll probably put out an occasional message to let you know we're here, those of you we don't talk to regularly. I know some have difficulties and are counting on us. We'll do our best.

JM
